Get Wine this allows you to run Windows Apps under Linux. Read FAQ HERE!! Preferably first.
VMWare is also fast gaining popularity.
Get Star Office Will work with existing MS Office products under Linux.
There is a great wealth of information on how to get started as well as setup. There are HOWTO'S that explain how to do almost anything you would want to with the system. The best part about it is it's all free and it's more stable than Windows 98 or NT. Even tech support is free. For simple installation and configuration problems, feel free to email me.
